Are you brave enough?
« on: August 31, 2015, 02:00:00 PM »
For squirrels? Tomorrow is the big day, squirrel opener and I'm gonna muster up the courage to get after the little, gray devils.

Ill be toting "mf" my latest silver tip combo but I'll have son with his 20 gauge as back up along with my fearless, squirrel hunting pit bull.

Sounds silly at my age but I'm bristling with anticipation. Good luck to all you courageous folks willing to tangle with them critters.

Feel free to keep this thread as a squirrel journal and add your adventures if you wish.

Have fun Buddy!  I will try and get out sometime.  Gotta go check for beechnuts anyway, so might as well bring my bow along.   :archer2:

No squirrels but Nate went instead of Noah, Noah had a mt bike crash the night before and is scratched up pretty good on his hands. Nate and I had some good, quality time and saw a "qdm  buck" next to a stand I was ready to move.

Went out today and boy, it needs to cool down some. It was mostly a deer scouting mission, a promising one. Saw 2 coyotes from close as they were traveling a creek bank. Missed one squirrel by oh so close. Ill get back out this weekend perhaps.

Its hard to do anything when you have sweat running through your eyes.

Hope your honey do's get to the point where you can sneak back out for a  couple hours.
Relax,

I've been going to the edge of my lawn every day after work. The little guys are in the woodlot cleaning up the hickory nuts. I'm 0 for 2 so far. I'd really like to throw some squirrel on the grill. I've never tried it like that.  Tony Z

I went out this morning for a bit. Walked up on a fawn with spots left only on its butt. It was joined by another matching fawn and a small doe about 5 minutes later. No shots at squirrels, I was enjoying the silence too much. Had a couple in range and got to finish a ground blind and clear a tree stand lane.

Got a scragly yote and a bony doe on the trail cam.     :dunno:

Too hot to even think about the tree rats, have to mow the lawn at the winery my daughter and son-in-law own tomorrow - takes about 6hrs. May go after them after that, but maybe I'll have a glass of wine instead.... This afternoon rain and cool down came in, now that's what I'm talkin about...

It was hot this morning, damn hot. I looked at it as conditioning for hog hunting  for this spring in SC and time is precious for me so I got to make hay while the sun is shining.
