Bear season/turkey season
« on: March 04, 2014, 10:31:00 AM »
What's everybody's plans for hunting this spring?

I have a spring bear tag for the South Blue's, but probably won't get after bear until May.  Hope to hunt turkeys when it opens, saw 5 longbeards last week while hunting shed antlers.

Hope you guys have been getting out of the house and knocking off the dust and rust!

Good luck guys! Never have tried to turkey hunt, no desire, until I picked up Trad. Scott.

I killed two big longbeards this spring, with my shotgun. One near Mt Hood and one in the Desolation unit while bear hunting.

Saw 5 bears, but unfortunately they were never close enough for a shot, even with my rifle. Not a lot of areas to glass, but found bear sign everywhere I went.

Saw lots of deer and elk, found some elk sheds. Had 4 inches of snow and below freezing temps up to 82* and very humid a few days later.

Spent a couple hours BSing with the assitant wolf bio for ODFW. If you have a copy of the 2014 hunting regs, her photo with a giant mule buck is on the cover.

Bart S. ... we have practically the same bow!
