Pope & Young Shoot July 30 & 31 Coming Soon!
« on: July 11, 2011, 11:09:00 PM »
The Pope & Young Shoot in Brownsville, Oregon is coming up soon!  Saturday & Sunday July 30 & 31.  Being hosted this year by Black Rose Traditional Archers out of Portland.

This is from the flyer.

"The Pope Young Field Archers originally intended this shoot as a hunting season primer where gathered the premier hunting archers of the day. The idea being that “tackle” was checked, accuracy sharpened on assorted targets and appropriate hunting methods discussed among hunting archers."

Clout & Wand Shoot on Saturday, and 50 animal Trail Shoot on Sunday.

A number of folks from "The Adventurous Bowman" out of Eugene will camped together (including me!), so look us up.

A worthwhile way to spend the day or the weekend.

Love this shoot!!!

Stott Mountain Traditional Archers (me) put it on last year.  Lots of work!!

We camp together as well.  Maybe some flaming arrows will be exchanged??   :smileystooges:

Do make this shoot guys, it's a blast!!!  Incredible trail shoot.  Incredible food Saturday night!!!  The wares being peddled are cool to browse.  The raffle and prizes are fun too.

Okie, you and Rio have to make a Pope&Young Shoot journey someday!

It is a great shoot, great country for it, with good folks.

Ok, I went TOA's website, which I will be a member of soon, and read the flyer for the P/Y shoot. It doesn't say anything about camping so, is that a possibility? If so, what is the cost to do an overnighter? Thanks in advance.

No charge for overnight camping. There are large fields to put up a tent or pull your camper/trailer/truck into and make yourself to home!

Sweet, I think I will come on Saturday morning and stay 'til Sunday when it ends. I've got a little two person tent I'll bring along and just pitch it out of everyone's way. Thanks for all the help Dave, much appreciate it.

Saturday is not as busy as Sunday.  But there are novelty shoots and the clout and wand.  Goods will be sold at that time too.  NO ENTRANCE to the 3-D course on Saturday.

The thing I like the most about camping at the Pope & Young is the hanging out with like minded folk.  If you don't like the heat (like I don't), plan on getting your shooting done in the morning, and hang out in the shade for the afternoon.  It does seem that it can get hot there!

If you don't make it there by 8:00 on Sunday can you still walk and shoot the 3D course? I've never been to a shoot like this before

It's a "shotgun" start...meaning the whole course is filled up and started at 8:00 am sharp.  You can shoot later...?  I remember last year, after the shoot was over, we started gathering the 3-D targets, pegs etc.
