2012 KyTradFest
« on: December 24, 2011, 02:55:00 PM »
Just wanted to invite everyone to our 2 nd annual "KyTradFest" sponsered by kentucky Traditional Bowhunters Associastion. Dates are set for March 30,31, and April 1, 2012. With all of last years positive responses we decided to make this a 3 day event this year. This gives long distance travelers, participants and vendors alike more time at the shoot to justify the travel distance. I will be available no later than noon on thursday March 29 to admit campers and vendors on the grounds. As last year, camping, vendor setup, and firewood is free. Facilities will be porta johns and hand wash stations. There is water on sight as well. Sorry, no showers. This will be a 40 target course, with realistic hunting setups.Arrangements are being made for aireal shots, long shots, running boar, and other novelty shots. Vendors are welcome and encouraged. With last years promising responses I expect more of vendors and Attendees. I also attended Twin Oaks and Cloverdale last year and got positive feedback at both shoots about KyTradfest, many that attended and were coming back, and others that couldn't make it and promised to this year. That kind of feedback makes all the work worth it. The same Food vendor will be on sight. We had a little issue with slow food service and running out of food last year.Quality of the food was not an issue.I personally spoke with our food vendor and was guarranteed that will not be a problem. He admitted he was overwhelmed, and really did not expect that kind of turnout.I think we all underestimated the turnout. Rest assured this will not happen this year. . KTBA will also keep a supply of food on hand just in case we need to step in and see to it everyone is accomodated. Consider that fixed. Our guest speaker for Saturday night will be the famed bowhunter from South Carolina Monty Browning ! I have spoken with this fine southern gentleman several times arranging this and the guy is a riot ! He has some new material pertaining to a recent Alaskan moose float trip that promises to be entertaining ! We will possibly host the Rod Jenkins shooting school again pending sufficient sign ups. I don't think this will be a problem as we had a full class last year on our first try at this. You can leave a response on here if you are intrested, and I will post details about this later. This is just a heads up so folks have plenty of time to plan this trip, more details later as the plans progress. Thanks ! Randy Grider (Pres. KTBA)

I'm thinking about heading down from MD for the weekend. How crowded does the camping get and what kind of temps/weather should I expect for that time of year.
Don't sit around and let things happen to you. Instead get busy and start making things happen FOR you. Get involved!

Last year, the temps were cool in the morning I wore a light jacket; but by mid-day I shed it. There is plenty of camping room. Come on down!!!

Hello!!
How do I go about signing up for the Rod Jenkins clinic? I attended one of his clinics up at 3 Rivers in 2010 and he's a GREAT teacher!! He's very knowledgeable, patient, and explains the how and why of everything in a way you can easily understand. I'd love the take another class with him to refresh what i got the first time!!

Biathlonman, we don't govern the vendors hours. As I recall, Big Jim brought lights and stayed open late, others may do the same. For that matter, Big Jim has about everything you could need. I'd say come on down, there's sure to be something going on.
