The woods were absolutely nuts tonight, I stopped counting at 35 some deer and 200 turkeys- Had several small forks and spikes and basket racks come right up to the decoy but the big boys did not show themselves tonight. A lot of chasing going on, I had 3 bucks chasing a doe right by me on my way in to the stand at 11:45 today , I froze and grunted and they continued to circle around me not 20 yards grunting and chasing- really cool to watch. I passed on at least 11 viable shots, 6 bucks the rest does(don't want to shoot the live bait!) all at 12 yards or less. I have 2 more days to get it done!
Hey Eric- ya gotta get out man, self-employment does have its ups and downs but right now it's definately up! whoooo man I wish the guys had all the corn out, then it would really be good.  Good luck guys

Jim - Good luck! Someday I will have to get me a self bow. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Todd - i would love to but with work its just not going to work out this year. Plenty of time left this year. The ground I have been hunting is public that is off limits to firearms so that will help. I hope.
Guess if the weather works out Lex and i will have to go out and try some bunny huntin back home.

Good shooting man and I'm definitley up for another bunny hunt.

I tell you what it was one heck of a blood trail. Took awhile to find the little sucker. He looked like he was about to charge when I spotted him and almost had to have a second shot to put him down. Lucky for me he expired. Those killer squirrel's sure are mean.

Mooseman, I refuse to believe your story.  You know why?  Because no one can get a decent hole in an animal or a decent bloodtrail unless they are using the Rage broadhead.  An old traditional head could not do that.   :)   At least that's what every Tom-Dick-and-Harry keeps telling me.  I swear if I see another "look at the hole this Rage made" thread or picture, I'm gonna puke my guts out.  Ha.  (Sorry, Moose, I've just been waiting for an opportunity to say that.  And your great pictures/blood trail provided the perfect chance).

Anxious to get back out there in a few days, probably headed to IA this weekend where I've not done justice to the expensive tag yet.  I get the feeling that with the corn still in the fields in many parts, and the way the weather's been, that when we hit the woods again next week there could still be good bucks around and the action could still be very good.

Just looked at my post on the buck and saw I posted the arrow pic twice (maybe I should use that  preview post button a little more often) anyways here is the other half of arrow.

Think I'll spend the weekend on my harley so I don't sit around and count the shots fired up around here- here's hoping they make it through! Can't wait to get back out.......

I just have an 04 Dyna Wide Glide, 16" apes and a few other upgrades- still haven't figured out a good way to secure a bow to it though. I suppose over my shoulder would work. Theres a couple other local guys here that ride and shoot bows so we'll have to stay in touch and get out one of these days. BrokenArrow1 has a I think a 70 sportster all original but I could never ride it, damn thing shifts on the wrong side plus its far too special of a bike for me to even sit on- lots of history and cool, he also rides a 01 dyna lowrider- big apes and lots of chrome, Congoman rides too.

Hey guys, I'm more or less a lurker.
On Nov 2nd I shot my first trad deer with a 50# Martin Dream Catcher, using a 125 Snuffer. A doe at 5 yards. She not only was my first trad deer but she was my first archery kill in 9 long years. Plus, I used a bow that used to belong to my buddy's dad, who lost a battle with cancer. She was meaningful on many levels!

If I wasnt so computer challenged, I'd post a picture of her. Good job by all! Especially on that squirrel!
