I am flying out to Nebraska next Saturday. I purchased my tags a couple of days ago. This year, I decided to purchase a choice tag with the hopes of getting an extra doe. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I also got 2 extra bonus tags to go with the tags I purchased. I doubt very much if I will stick 4 deer, but it does give me confidence that there are much more deer out there than in past seasons. Good luck to all this year. Have a safe season.

Missed a forked horned buck yesterday evening. I shot right over his back. I have had deer around my groundblinds almost daily. There always seems to be a reason why I can not take the shot. The 5 inches of rain in the area has not helped the situation. I will be glad when the wind changes back to the southernly direction. It has been a great trip so far. Stalked up on 6 turkeys yesterday afternoon. I don't have a turkey tag, but it was fun just seeing how close I could get before getting busted. Enjoy your hunt and GOOD LUCK!!!

Nothing yet but judging from the number of road kill animals I saw yesterday down I-80, I'd say the rut is kicking in.  Maybe this weekend!  Good luck guys.

I scored on a 6 x 5 muley first ever attempt.  I made some stalks with my longbow but I was out of my comfort zone and 30 yards was as close as I could get and it was windy and didnt want to take a chance.  So I had to use the wheels I didnt want to but I also didnt want to injur an animal.  So I shot him at 35 yards with my Mathews switchback xt.  Next year will hopefully be better.

I managed to tag a small 3x3 with an osage selfbow just before rifle season.  Really haven't seen a lot this season so I thought I'd better not be too particular.  I'll try again this weekend.  Best of luck to you all!

My season went with unfillled tags but lots of time and enjoyment in the wild. Loved every minute of it.

Good season for me for sure.  I'll post some pictures, not to brag, but because they're a heckuva lot more interesting than me talking.   :)

Sept. 17 was surprised to see this guy come out just as I was ready to get down.  Dodge Co., 10 yard heart shot.

Sept. 20, couldn't pass up a weekend AM to kill a doe, also in Dodge Co.  Daughters able to come out and help on blood trail made it very memorable.  15 yards I think, lung/heart.

Sept. 27 in Saunders Co.  Another perfect morning to take a doe.  11 yards, shot a little in front of shoulder, broke neck/spine.  Whirled on me I think.

Oct. 4 in Butler Co.  First hunt on this property though I had scouted it several times in summer.  Day of Missouri-NU game, remember the winds?  Came in directly below me and I changed my mind, hung up video camera and got him at about 3 yards from a 8-ft. treestand in a lone tree in the middle of nowhere.  True story.  Only got one lung, maybe a bit more with the tough straight down angle.  Very tough trail but satisfying.

Later in Oct. killed another buck back in Dodge Co.  Can't remember the date and don't have photo on this computer.  11 yard lung/heart shot, probably a 1.5-year old doe.

Thursday before rifle, back in Butler Co. took this doe after counting coup on two very nice bucks.  Another big doe.  17 yard shot, short trail, double lung.

Will post one more time with some other photos that are part of the season you might enjoy in next post.

Didn't hunt a ton after rifle season, spent most of time writing and whittling the honey-do list.  Did take this big doe Dec. 6, about 6 yard shot, lung/heart, on a cold evening.

All deer taken with a Pronghorn take-down, and Woodsman broadhead (1 doe with a Snuffer I think).  Some other interesting pics you might like.

Peekaboo...

Beautiful morning in the Platte Valley...

Nice buck passed up Thursday before rifle.  He's closer (and a little bigger) than he looks.  Photo taken with small digital.  Buck is a 6x6 (split brows) with lots of potential.  Don't know if he survived rifle/mz seasons.

Ended the season with 59 bowhunts, far less than the 99 I recorded last year.  Anxious for the NBA Banquet in March, spring turkey, and the crazy stuff that follows in the fall.
