hog hunting on WMA,s
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:08:00 PM »
AGFC is trying to ban hog hunting on WMA'S this coming season. If you like to shoot hogs you need to go to their web site and voice your opinion on the survey. They want to get rid of hogs but don't want anyone to kill one. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

i saw that and took thier survey.. i assume they want total control of the situation, .. makes no sense.. they said that they didnt want people in the woods while they are trying to trap them so as not to disrupt the feeding etc... i dunno ... i assume they are worried about poaching or something   makes me mad that it is illegal to even stump shoot on a WMA as well

It is on the top right portion of the AGFC home page. Sometimes you have to wait a minute for it to pop up.

Took the survey. I just hope the AGFC listens to the people and do what the majority ask.

Very disappointed. I just relocated from California and was looking forward to chasing some Arkansas hogs like Ive been doing in California for the past 30 odd years. Looks like ill have to go to Oklahoma to do my hog hunting. Could this be a good deal for landowners with a hog problem. I would be willing to pay 200 to 300 trespass fee a weekend to hunt hogs sense i can no longer hunt them on public land.

I put my 2 cents worth in the survey.  I figured the survey was pretty much a farce to begin with.

The sheer stupidity boggles my mind.

I got a buddy in the AGFC and he said people were hunting around the huge hog pens they built. They were spooking off the hogs. They said they would rather catch 20 than a hunter kill 1 or 2 and mess up the trap? I don't care either way I just want them gone!

OK so a guy hunting squirrel near the trap wouldn't spook them the same as a guy hunting with a bow?  Makes perfect sense to me. Not.

Simple solution would be to trap from Feb to Sept. and let the hunters kill all they can from Oct to Jan. Best of both worlds...but thats too simple.
