It's arrow building season....show your's off
« on: March 15, 2013, 08:15:00 PM »
So it's just a basic fluorescent pink wrap and fletch.  It's a new color for me.  I've normally shot fluorescent chartruese.  I must be being influenced by all the girls in my house.

I like them Jerry. That is my favorite color for arrows. It makes them so much easier to find when you miss. Nothing else out there that color. Bet you never thought about that. Of course you will never find that out either.

Nice work guys.

Raphael are you taking any applications for new nephews??  If so, where do I apply.

Chris are you front loading those bad boys or just shooting a real bow?

Bruce, I bet I can loose mine faster than you!!!

Good looking arrows guys.

Thanks Bruce.  Haven't built wood arrows in quite a few years, so thought I'd try it again.

Jerry, no front loading on these.  I get good arrow flight but are a bit heavy (mass weight).

Thanks again guys,
Chris

Those are some nice looking arrows. I might almost feel guilty making one of you guys take a risky shot with one of those.     :bigsmyl:

Kind of different huh.  I've been shooting the stumpbuster arrows (aluminum footed POC)for a couple of years and really like them.  It adds some weight and they really can take a beating.  I made a few for stumping and they just don't break no matter what I hit.  I also like that if I want to change heads I just screw in a new one.  I've never used douglas fir ones, I'm looking forward to putting them to the test.

The feathers are the TrueFlight mini barred ones from 3Rivers.  I haven't dyed my own yet but it sounds like it would be fun to try.

What size shaft are you using? I bet I could break one of those in no time flat. I am getting real good at breaking carbons.

The douglas fir is 23/64 and the footing is the end of some old 2315's I had.  Tell you what, go ahead and make some up and we'll shoot them into some rocks or trees at the Chippewa Falls shoot to see how they hold up for you.
