End of June/First of July-what's going on in Wi?
« on: May 21, 2006, 08:54:00 PM »
Hey guys!

I will be in Tomah and Hayward around the end of June/first of July.  We will be visiting my wife's family, but I will have some time to play around too.  Any trad events or outdoor activities that I should try to take in?

Greg, There is a shoot June 25 & 26 in Eau Claire which is on the way from Tomah to Hayward.  I haven't been to that one before myself, so can't tell you much about it, but our newsletter says to call Jeff at 715-874-5609 for more information.
There are a couple of other really good shoots, but might be a little early or late for your trip.
Coon Rapids MN has a great shoot the weekend of June 17&18th and wouldn't be too far out of your way.
The weekend of July 8&9 is our WTA annual State Championship shoot which will be in Horicon this year.
If either one of those might work let me know and I'll get you more information.

Grag, Wife and I went to the Eau Claire shoot several years ago and it was a good shoot. Aside from the 3D course, they had some side shoots. If you scored in the side shoot, your name went into a raffle. Flu-flu's at flying balls, Hit the Barn (at about 150yds) and the Iron Bear. (Steel outline of a bear with a hole in it. Get thru the hole to hit the bull, otherwise, lose an arrow.) They had some vendors there also. We enjoyed it.

Thanks, guys!  Still working out the exact dates, but the Eau Claire shoot might be a possibility.

My wife and I are thinking about trying to make it to the Eau Claire shoot.  It will be our first shoot.  Probably a dumb question but how many arrows do you guys normally take to a shoot and what kind of distances can I expect?  I normally only shoot out to 25 or so yards.

I haven't been to Eau Claire, but normally traditional shoots will be closer shots well within 25 yards for most.  Might throw a bit longer one or two in but usually at a pretty large target, so you should have no problems.
Most times you shouldn't have much trouble losing arrowes, but nice to have a few extra along. Have a great time!
