My little hunting log
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:59:00 PM »
Well hit the stand this afternoon.  It was a bit windy out, to say the least.  And pretty bright with all the sun.  Seen some good tracks, so the have been moving around.  Just not by my stand, not totally true.  I did have a little one come in behind me at around 4:40pm.  Watched that one till dark.

I was just happy to see a deer today.

Well I got out yesterday, Saturday.  As dad and I were driving to the woods we got a call from a friend that hunts the same property.  He proceeds to tell us how they just got done driving the whole property.  They kicked up a bunch of deer, and some nice bucks.  In fact 2 of them ran right under my stand.  Well needless to say, they chased all the deer off that side of the mountain.  For dad and I were in our stands at 2pm.  Sat till dark, neither of us saw a single deer.

Also got out this morning.  I was in the stand by 620am.  And sat till 930am.  Only to see nothing.

I have notice that the fields around my house do not have any deer activity in them till after 10am.  So next weekend I will be getting in the stand around 9am and sitting till 1pm.  Maybe with the full moon it will work out.  I use this tactic in NY state alot, and it works up there.
