Title: MTAR
Post by: Holm-Made on June 22, 2016, 12:43:00 AM
Time to start planning the Minnesota traditional Archery Rendezvous.  It will be Aug. 12, 13, 14th.  Friday noon til Sunday noon.

Spread the word that since the other site is down we will do the planning here.

Let me know if you can do a meal or plan/run an activity.  Last year we did speed shoot, sling shot tournament, skunk pin and pistol shooting.  Not sure yet if we will have the pop up targets again.  We could do a judo/ jug shoot where we set up a course with milk jugs and shoot them with judos.  Kind of like a 3d shoot but easier/cheaper.  We would all need to bring jugs.

Katie and I will run the coffee in the mornings and bring breads to go with it.

I can run the slingshot tournament, I know where to find the trophy eh Chad?

Not much activity here, I hope the regulars figured out where to look.

I plan on being there. Unable to commit to cooking a meal at this point though. May be staying at a Hotel though as on-going back issues may prevent me setting up my portable hotel.

Chad, I think I have Mike's phone # somewhere if you haven't heard from him. I can send him a text and let him know the dates.

I can do the speed shoot again. Brady is in San Diego at boot camp so it will be just me this year. I can do any meal so I'll see what is left. I picked up a 1911 for pistol shoot.

Yeah, if any of you have emails for the regulars we should send them a note to come here for information. I've posted on our MTAR facebook page and that catches a couple of them like JJ and Karl. This will be a grass roots effort!

There's an MTAR Facebook page?   I only I could remember my Facebook login info, it's only been about 10 years since I last logged into it.

I'm back in the state now so I will start working on the planning portion of the event.  I make a list of whos coming and who's helping with meals.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Chad

Man it's slower over here that it was on the other site.
I just sent Mike a text with details, hopefully he recognized who I was.  Don't have contact information for anyone else though.
Looks like we might be ordering a lot of Pizza and  Chinese take-out this year.

Just a heads up.  The skeeters are horrible.  I'm having the mosquito squad come and spray on Tuesday.  If I don't see a big improvement, we may have to move the event to Jeremy's place.  (About 7 miles away).  If we do change the location, then I will post directions here.  I'll make a decision Wednesday or Thursday.  Chad

They sprayed yesterday morning and we didn't have a mosquito the rest of the day.  We will have it here as usual.  Bring thermo cells and spray, just in case.

Sounds good, we've been camping in hayward since Saturday so we're getting hardened to the camping life. By the time we get packed up tomorrow Morning and on the road im guessing we won't get to your place till after noon.

Yes it was a fun weekend.  I enjoyed everyone's company.  I really like the knife too, Dan.

It was nice to see some guys doing some projects.  Today I was working in the shop and I thought it would have been a good idea if we collectively made something to send to Brady.  A dozen arrows, a knife, bow or whatever.  That would have been neat.

Anyway, now I'm looking forward to the bunny hunt.  John Beard texted me to say he already has two farms lined up.  Plan for a bunny hunt this winter.

That would have been a great idea for Brady, darn it, hind sight is 20/20.

Even though it is a long way off, i'll start a thread for the bunny hunt to keep it organized.

Chad, I'm glad you like the knife since I really like the bow! I think I'm in trouble, cause I really like making knives! I need to get better at evening out and cleaning up my plunge lines.

I meant to take a few pictures of the knife but forgot to, if you get a chance sometime could you take a few pictures and email them to me?

Thanks Chad for all your hospitality, it was a great time for all!

If you talk to Skunkman remind him to use some of that SISU and come back with an elk story or two....
