The NTA is thinking about having a bow building seminar at the Nebraska Bowhunters Asn Jamboree Aug. 5th-8th. We have not talked to the NBA about this yet, But I was wanting to find out how much intress is out there for something out west. The NBA jamboree is at Halsey Nat. Forrest and will have both compound and Traditional shooters and is a family gathering. What do you guys think. Ken

Ken, I'm interested. We used to camp at Halsey and spent some time on the Dismal. My daughter and family live in North Platte and would enjoy bringing the grandkids. What a beautiful backstop for a gathering that time of year.

If it works out I am planning on being there. Been wanting to go for years just never worked out. Gonna cross my fingers this year.

Ken has talked to me about this, I think it's a great idea. Will be sending a note to the NBA Board and the Jamboree Chairman to get their input.

Any updates? Raging Water sent a PM saying he was planning on visiting Nebraska this summer and was wondering if any shoots were planned.
I'd love to make this one with family and meet a few new friends.

Fred,
Guess it's still up in the air if NTA is going to do a bow building seminar. But I guarantee you will enjoy the NBA Jamboree. Put it on your calendar to come - there are a lot of us 'stick' shooters there . . .

Fred,
The NBA Board thought the bow building seminar was a great idea, and are looking forward to it. The last I talked to Ken, he was still trying to get someone to commit to doing a seminar at Halsey.

I know a few builders although not well known. If I can be of any help please let me know.

Well I talked to the NTA Board and they did`nt have much intress. Craig said that the NBA would like to have us, and that we could set up the awning near the center of the registration tables. I think a bunch of us should just plan on trying it. We could work on selfbows for awhile then go shoot or whatever, then back to the bows. The big problem I have is that I`ve only made one selfbow, and it did`nt turn out that good. So I`ll be needing some help from the experts. Fred if you have some guys that could help that would be great. I have a lot of the equipment that we need, and about 6-8 staves (osage) we could use. Lets see if we can get this off the ground. THANKS! Ken
-
Oh sure Ken. I was planning on you teaching me how to build one.
-
Ken, Let me make some inquiries. Might be a good idea to post on the PowWow and Bowyers Bench asking for help.
TradGang members have big hearts.
Let me know what you're thinking.
You can PM or email me anytime.
The earlier we get started the better chances for success.

Craig and Ken,
Doing my best to help this get off the ground.
Posted here on the Bowyers Bench.
I think you guys should jump over, add a little input and help.
Eric Krewson sent me a PM with a bit of advice.
I've gone as far as jumping ship and asking help from snake and pappy on the wall.
If you are commited we can do this right. I'm figuring 3 day class for the oldtimers, 1 day class for the kids. We all know by now that hey are just quicker than we are.
The best friend you've ever had,
Friendly Fred

Craig and Ken, Possibly we have complications?
Being I'm not a member of the NBA or the NTA, maybe you have different wishes or intentions.
My intentions were to try to help.
As always on TradGang,
With Respect, Fred

Bowferd, You have a PM. Ken

Well, It`s a go. Wade Phillips and I will be there on Thu. and all weekend. Look for the awning with the Nebraska Traditional Archers banner, and the Compton Trad Archers banner (the banners will not be thre till Fri PM.) so look for an old guy and a fat guy working on selfbows next to the registration table. Fred (Bowferd) and Brian (Wildcat1) We`ll see ya there. Anyone else going to make it?
-
Ken,
Are you calling Wade fat??? I'll be up sometime on Thursday.

Boy I am really disappointed it didn't work out to go this year. Was looking forward to it. Gonna have to make it happen next year. Hope everyone has a great time.
