Title: Georgia hogs?
Post by: Benjy on May 11, 2014, 08:45:00 PM
I have been looking for property to lease in South Carolina. I am finding some in Georgia but I am not sure if there are hogs in these areas. Are the hogs on all the river systems? I am looking on the east coast and above interstate 16.

My Google searches are not very consistent...

Thanks,
Benjy

There are lots of hogs in southeast GA. I would say yes they are on all the river systems there, more in places than others. If you want them keep feed out and they will be there.

Got a lease in Twiggs Co that has plenty of hogs on it, thus the reason I leased it, but pretty much anywhere around a major river system from mid-GA down and to the East will have hogs on it like Todd mentioned!
The areas you mentioned should definitely have hogs on it.  Some of my most favorite hog hunting trips have been just south of Savannah.

Thanks, I am looking at property that is south of Fort Stewart Close to Townsend. I guess it is time to put the feet to the ground and check it out in person!

I will keep you posted.

Mark, Any leads on some property in Twiggs Co?

Sorry have not been on the forum lately!
No not that I know of, they do not come up very often.  I have mine thru Plum Creek so you might want to check their site for anything available.  There were a few the last time I looked but most of those were away from the river but still should have some hogs on them.  Good luck

Lots of hogs in Colleton County SOUTH CAROLINA....I had a lease there last year and was covered up in hogs in the Islandton, Walterboro and New Hope areas there along river drainage.  Mossy Oak Properties has some land there they lease..>Cecil is the guy...property is owned by Williams Brothers.

Some good hunting on public land along entire Savannah River as well.

Thanks for your help, I got lucky and scored some property near Charleston SC. Should have a few hogs and it is in a great location.
